That might be true but you have a slow cooker on fir 8hrs, if you cook the same stew on the hob it takes 1hr so won't that even out?
Someone gave me an excellent tip yesterday, put tin foil behind your radiators as it reflects the heat back into the room and not absorbed into the wall.
