Awkward Dinners
So tonight I met up with my friend like we do every week for dinner at a restaurant, however tonight she invited her friend who also brought their friend.
Now the friends friend was a little awkward from the start as I went to shake his hand and instead he hugged me (I've never met him before). Then during dinner he was quite annoying with dinner conversation when I asked him what he did for a living and he said a bit of everything and he likes to give to the world and teach them the spirit of living and immersing himself in the cultures (I actually had to stop myself from throwing out a comment in response to that) and I am still no clearer as to what it actually is he does.
Then when we all talking about travelling he was going on about New Zealand and how it is so culturally spiritual there and you can be at one blah blah (he has never been to NZ or travelling but I swear to God he sounded exactly like the 'Gap Year' man).
But the worst part of the evening was when he then started clicking really loudly and saying loudly 'Garcon, garcon, come on' to the waiter. I nearly lost my temper at this guy and had to walk out for a smoke to stop myself from giving this guy a much needed slap. He then started saying to the waiter that he was doing a good job and that somebody has to do this work, just being really condescending.
Everyone in the restaurant just looked in disbelief at our table and it was honestly the most awkward dining experience I have had in such a long time. i left the waiter a good tip and apologised about the guy's behaviour before leaving in sheer embarrassment.
