But she didn't "get" the lyrics at all, she blatantly didn't understand what they were about AT ALL, she spent half of the video... smirking :/. It's a cynical, angry, almost sarcastic song. She sang it like a happy gospel prayer. And as a result, it was soulless drivel.
Alexandra's Hallelujah is a great example. Original was quite imo raunchy, she turned it into a clean cut gospel dirge.
