I said no but was only thinking of substances when I answered, having read the thread I suppose I'm in "depends on circumstances". I would never buy someone underage alcohol or tobacco... you'd have to be mad, it's not worth being caught and charged :/. Anyway, I was partying at the weekends at 16 without ever having to ask an over 18 to knowingly supply it... life will find a way, and all that.

But, movies and games I would happily buy for my kids. I don't believe in arbitrary age ratings, it's utter nonsense in my opinion. I play the new Tomb Raider with my 3 year old and I think it's an 18 . She loves it, she often "plays" Tomb Raider herself in imaginative play, running around the house, jumping over the couch, rescuing her best friend (her one-year-old sister) from the bad guy (her mum), heh...

I played games with various ratings when I was younger and got a lot out of it, and we pretty much ignored movie ratings too. And I remember getting to stay up late on Wednesdays when I was 7 or 8, to watch The X Files with my dad... ahh, nostalgia. But yeah I'd guess most X Files episodes are rated 15...

My parents even took me to see Independence Day (a 12) when I was only 10!! WHAT A REBEL!!
