..I don't think it's just the internet shopping/sites that have killed off 'the highstreet'...before there was the internet, the large supermarkets started it..I remember when there was a huge thing because Sainsbury's..(or Tesco..) were selling Levi 501 jeans for around £25 and the retail on them was around £50/£60...they basically sell everything now..school uniforms etc are just so much cheaper than anywhere else..and shops like Andy's Records, which I loved because you could chat to staff there about music for ages..they closed down ages ago because they couldn't compete with supermarket prices on cds/dvds..well actually I think it was videos then....they were a lot smaller though..the larger chains like Blockbuster/HMV probably could compete..but maybe they've been too greedy ...?...
