The whole smoking situation is full of hypocrisy, on the one hand the Govt is passing laws that make it more and more difficult for people to smoke BUT it is still legal so they should be able to smoke somewhere. On the other hand the Govt is raking in Millions upon Millions from duty on cigarettes.

And when people do stop the Govt bangs up the duty on fags to get the same money from less people, effectively making money out of peoples drug habits.

The Govt are acting no better than a Drug Dealer knowing that people will smoke however uncomfortable they make it by banning smoking from public places ,workplaces etc...

They want to be seen to do the right thing but still want their tax take from cigarettes.

If they were really serious then smoking would be banned and ALL smokers would be offered treatments to stop like withdrawing from Herion or Cocaine (Nicotine is actually more addictive than either of those two drugs).

The loss of money from cigarette duty would be somewhat offset by the reduced NHS costs in treating a wide variety of smoking related diseases.

This current fiasco has gone on long enough........!!!!!
