I have always said, education will never be got right until the political parties stop treating education as a political football.
By changing what one party does then the next lot get in and try to start to change all again.

For me both the main Govt parties have failed as to education and therefore the children that need the education, both in the 13 years of Labour govt to 2010 and also even moreso in the massive 18 years from 1979 of the previous Conservative govts too.

If you cannot get all right in a full unbroken 18 years of Govt; with comfortable overall majorities too, then something has to be badly wrong with your policies in the first place.
The same argument of course can be made as to the lesser 13 years of Govt that followed that.

Over the last 50 years the Conservatives have governed comfortably for around 26 years,Labour has had around 24 years, not with the overall majorities enjoyed by the Conservatives, yet between them education is still a mess.
To blame one party for that is plain ridiculous in my opinion, they have 'both' massively failed as to education over the decades.
