I always wondered how my grandad would have coped if he'd lived long enough to see my granny suffer from Alzheimer's, they were one of those couples who did everything together... slightly different from what I asked in the OP but memory loss is so heartbreaking to see, I think it would be difficult to cope with if someone you love couldn't remember the two of you ever being together
