Been a few cases like this and there will be more as more cuts come in.
They DO need to assess peoples need for disability benefits, that cant be denied. But the tests are just ridiculous and need looked as ASAP. They also need to go on a case by case basis..I have heard of people with progressive illnesses that cant be cured being 'assessed' every year. If their illness WONT go away and will just get worse, whats the point in keep putting them through the 'tests'?
People are scared of ATOS because of how they go on. I don't blame them having been to a couple of assessments myself. The people who check you arent actually qualified to do so, and ask questions such as 'can you hold a pen for 10 seconds'. If you can, you are found fit for work. It is ****ing insane. Yes, these cases tend to get the decision overturned at tribunal (on the tribunal panel there s a REAL doctor who is fit to assess medical needs) but whilst waiting for tribunal their money is cut..backdated when you pass but thats not the point. Plus I heard that they are cutting legal aid for sickness benefit tribunals too.not sure how true that is though. And that is just plain wrong tbh.
