Do you mean Alex and Izzie? I kind of got the impression that he really cared about her and got nervous about kissing her, whereas when he has been with other women, he didn't care about them so much, so wasn't nervous about coming on to them.
I know something pretty shocking that's going to happen in season 3, but I can't post it here for fear of ruining it for other viewers.
Regarding the guys, I have to say: McDreamy does nothing for me, neither does McSteamy (in fact, I really don't like him). The hottest guy on the show, by FAR, is Denny - yum, yum.
