It's a bit of a pointless thing to say as a defense for Linda's actions though - we're all well aware of Jim's past, he's admitted to it and his life has moved on since then, he's remarried and he hasn't once raised a hand to anyone in the house or intimidated anyone so ultimately it's not relevant to most discussions. Bringing it up smacks of desperation to somehow prove that Jim must always be in the wrong. So yes, it is childish to bring it up in an argument - not even Linda has brought it up when they've been arguing; if she wanted to use it against him then she could but she hasn't - so why are you?
