Default Dani\'s big C hell (press report & discussion)

From the Daily Star

DANIELLE LLOYD was left a wreck by a breast cancer scare.

The Celeb BB star cried herself to sleep for weeks after she discovered a growth in her right breast.

And the beauty, whose family has a history of breast cancer, revealed how she feared the worst when doctors told her they would need to carry out a biopsy.

Dani said: “I was so scared when I found it and just thought: ‘Oh My God, I’ve got cancer’.

“I waited for four months before I even told my mum because I was so scared.

“I just didn’t want to think about it. It was a nightmare.

“I was worried about it constantly.”

Dani’s nightmare started during a routine check-up just three months after she had a boob job.

At first the star, who was just 21 and living in Liverpool, suffered in silence and simply hoped the pea-size growth was simply a result of the recent op.

But when Danielle, now 23, finally went to the hospital she was terrified to discover doctors would need to examine the lump before they could give her the all-clear.

Dani, whose great-grandmother died from breast cancer, said: “At first I thought it was probably connected to the breast operation, but the doctors said it wasn’t.

“When I told him the lump had been there a while the doctor told me off.

“I realised I should have seen someone straight away.

“He said I was really young and healthy, but obviously there was still a chance it could have been cancer.”

The former Miss Great Britain’s ordeal ended when her mum Jackie called her to say everything was in the clear.

Relieved Dani told this week’s new! magazine: “I had the biopsy and they said it was benign.

“Mum phoned me with the results a week later – I was away at the time – and I was like ‘everything’s fine’. It was one of the hardest weeks of my life.

“My mum’s nan died from breast cancer. It was before I was born, but her and my mum were close and it was a really hard time for them.”

Danielle, who now has regular check-ups, has yet to have the lump removed.

But she advised all women to regularly check themselves.

Danielle, who split with footballer Teddy Sheringham in February, said: “I think it’s really important for anyone to check themselves all the time.

“You just don’t know when that’s going to happen.

“I’ve still got the lump. The doctors said it was benign and that I didn’t need to, but now I think I will have it removed to be on the safe side.

“That was the one thing about Ted, he always used to say he was worried about it and ask what I was going to do. He wanted me to get it removed.”

Danielle donated £50,000 from her Celebrity Big Brother earnings to the Linda McCartney Centre in Liverpool, where she helps to raise funds.
