Everything about this story is so sad. I can't even begin to imagine being in such a situation, and regardless of whether or not that teacher was rescued "against his will" or left voluntarily before the others, I don't think it makes a difference. In a disaster as big as this one I can't imagine anyone on that ship thought logically and sensibly. To say he is better off dead is horrible. I can only hope that everyone involved can move on in some way or another. Too many lives have already been lost.
