We have a chap who comes into the local village pub who has a name that sounds like it was made up by H. E. Bates. He's a proper countryman, always has a couple of dogs trotting along behind him and until a couple of years ago, he had a pet magpie he found as an abandoned chick, raised, and the magpie would sit on his shoulder.
