The exact same thing happened to me, my VCR packed in about 2006 and I never bothered replacing it. It wasn't until late last year when I was curious to find out what was on old tapes. I ended up buying a used VCR on eBay for about £15 which I'm still using now. Then I bought this to transfer recordings and short clips to my laptop.
