She is capable of freeing herself. She had ample time from the beginning of the 'showmance' to say 'NO, I'm not interested'. She played into it and now it's up to her to get herself out of it, if that is what she wants.
If she keeps telling him she loves him and has sex with him, how does that show him that she wants out?
