Now, back to the chickens........
I don't eat meat because I don't want anything to die to keep me going. I am lucky to have a choice about it. If I was really hungry and there was no alternative, no doubt I would turn carnivor again.
I think if anyone really stopped to think about how the food was reared and killed they would feel less than comfortable about it. I was brought up on a small-holding myself and have seen chickens and pigs slaughtered. It's horrible, but it's a fact of life. If you want to live and eat, these things have to happen
Far more honest to kill something because you need to eat it, than to buy a pack of unrecognisable chicken fillets, forget them in the bottom of the fridge until they are out of date, and then bin them. Or buying chicken nuggets without a second thought.....
