It's a horrific read, but it goes some way to explain how this kind of abuse can happen to one child in a bigger family.
I read it before my son was born, and to be honest, I don't think I would have been able to finish it had it been after. It was very upsetting, but I do recommend it. There are a series of the books, telling his story from his childhood years of abuse to where he is now.

I have, I know it happens and I think it was amazing he survived to tell his tale... but it doesn't explain why these 'mothers' do these things.
