The Interview

Heather Lethe, 38, is famous for her business prowess and philanthropy as well as her aversion to journalists, interviews and media as a whole which is why the world was surprised when she recently went public with both her engagement to Morgan Acheron and her adoption of Tristan Lethe. What spurred on Ms Lethe's sudden desire to go public with things she previously kept private is anyone's guess but recently I had the chance to find out when I sat down with the CEO of ASE Industries.

You were previously known to be quite protective of your private life so what's changed recently?
This past year has been a tumultuous one for ASE Industries and for me too and I wanted to show everyone that I wasn't going to be brought down by the atrocities commited by the Guild. I wanted to show them that I wasn't going to give in and that life goes on and gets better.

Speaking of The Guild, What are your thoughts on their surprisingly large following?
It breaks my heart that people are making heroes out of a group of terrorists. They've killed good people, people with families and for what? It's easy to blame corporations like ASE for the state of the world but blowing up our buildings and murdering our employees isn't going to fix anything. It just leads to a pointless and tragic waste of life. It's especially heartbreaking to be targeted like this when we do more than any other corporation to help families that are struggling or have been made homeless by the economic downturn. One example of the work we do is recently completed Angel Peaks project. Angel Peaks is a town we've built from the ground up for struggling families where housing and the cost of living is cheap. It's a wonderful place and I hope we can build more communities like it throughout America.
We may be a corporation but we care about the world and we want to do everything we can to help.

Moving on to happier subjects, you recently chose to adopt which shocked a lot of people as you once said you didn't want children. What changed your mind and how are you finding motherhood?
This last year has really changed my perspective on things and I decided that I wanted children. I wanted to adopt a teenager because, through my charity work, I've seen that older children rarely find a home and become products of the system. Luckily when I met Tristan everything fell into place quite nicely and I was able to go through the adoption process quite quickly. I really love being a parent, I feel like I see the world with new eyes.

You also recently got engaged to your long time partner Morgan Acheron, have you set a date yet?
[laughs] I'm afraid not but I hope to get married soon, I don't think I've ever loved anyone quite as much as I love Morgan and we've been together for what feels like centuries so it's about time we bit the bullet.

Aside from Motherhood and a wedding, what are your plans for the future?
Like I said earlier I really want to develop the Angel Peaks project further as it's set to be a huge success and my dream is to create sister towns throughout America and abroad. It's my main priority at the moment and I'll be living in Angel Peaks to oversee it's expansion.
