You can't see this on the photos, but the exterior of the house is based on the BB6 - BB9 style compound, with a round stage (actually hexagonal but I won't tell if you don't), a runway with security fencing and big plasma screens, one mounted to a large wall, and one on either side of the doors. I built the actual compound first, then constructed the house within. Look at some modern designs and architectural floorplans, and keep an eye out for custom content based on real modern objects. I don't know what The Sims 3 equivalent is, but to get two way mirrors, use any window you like and use a combination of moveobjects on and boolprop snapobjectstogrid false to use mirrors to act as camera runs. Remember to take camera runs into account for an added sense of realism by doubling up the walls. Download some security fencing (available as CC for both games) and surround the compound with it. Take lighting into account or everything will look bleached or underlit. Keep the doors locked for all sims to avoid them walking out.
