This. No way was Helen as bad as James. The house in general was attempting to bully Gary, with James the ringleader. However, it takes two for bullying to occur and Gary wouldn't allow them to bully him.
James now understands that Gary is popular and cannot be bullied, so he's stopped it. That doesn't make him a better person, he has just moved on to bad mouthing Kellie.
I see no redeeming qualities in James at all, Helen had loads.
