I had to claim benefits when I lived in supported housing at 16 (sorry to get all deep) but even at that age the £45 a fortnight I was given was pittance, I wanted work and to earn money to buy stuff and have independence not sit on my arse in some house full of drop outs.
The kicker is with the system the government had in place was if I came off benefits I would be kicked out as only people on benefits were entitled to a home when being booted to the curb.
Anyway back to Dee I get the impression Dee had no intention of ever getting a job, she was happy being street mama and not really going anywhere with her life. What satisfaction do people get from living on a budget with no prospects? I experienced it for 8 months and was going loopy with boredom.
Its a sad life.
