My suspicion is this: due to his brain damage and deafness, he has occasionally bumped into people. Perhaps not knowing they were behind him or lacking depth perception to see how far away they are.
Why else would he do this?

Hearing/ear problems may well affect his balance, I know this from personal
experience. Also I was worse in the mornings, getting up from lying down position caused balance problems, this may have caused him to bump into Lauren in the bedroom. He has tried to explain his health problems but in some respects the other housemates are deafer than he is! They hear but dont listen.!
