That's not really the same. Using the X Factor for promo isn't the same as using it to try and get into the business/get a record deal.
If she already has the means to release her music and is making a living out of it then why does she want to be a contestant on X Factor. Especially is she takes herself so seriously as an "artist", no artist would touch it with a bargepole. You're tarnished forever more.
Edit - Cheryl's last album came out and went number 1 without the X Factor.
