You're stating all of that like it is pure fact, when in reality, it's just your opinion.. I have seen many people say they love her because she's the most honest judge and they agreed with her about Fleur, so you saying 'no-one knows what she was on about' was conjecture at it's finest.

Mel might give them not very good songs, in your opinion, but that doesn't mean they can't work with her to choose a better song if they don't think it would suit them.. and Mel herself cannot physically make them sing better, that's what the issue is, especially with Jake, he was awful, the best song in the world couldn't have made him sound good.
