Simon has a fondness for 'women of colour' and always has had - long before fame came his way - and he has a palpable massive crush on his 'baby' (his words) Fleur East. A 'Blind Man On Horseback' can see as much, and Simon will stop at nothing to make Fleur a huge star, starting with her winning the X-Factor.
However, Simon knows that there is a stumbling block in the shape of Andrea and thus, is doing everything in his considerable power to remove that stumbling block.
Cowell is nobody's fool - he is not worried about any other competitor but Andrea, which is why he is doing the 'hatchet job' on him, it is unfair, but nothing personal. Andrea is simply a threat to Cowell's plans to play 'Svengali' with Fleur East as his 'Trilby.
