Spoiler: ...Godzilla v mutant to save the planet so there was nothing really not to love but nothing surprising either so just a good fun watch..although I didn't expect his dad to die and hoped that their relationship would be rediscovered and he would get to know his grandson but it wasn't to be.. ....lovely cast..Aaron Taylor Johnson, Bryan Cranston.. ..Elizabeth Olsen and a brief Juliette Binoche...

I was surprised at how good this actually was, I wasn't expecting much from it. The actual scenes of Godzilla are amazing, especially the fighting scenes with it. Had been a little disappointed at first when I thought the MUTO was Godzilla because it was nothing compared to the previous film adaptions of the monster, but obviously that was put to rest when Godzilla actually turned up. It does have its flaws though, the main one being the character development. I was really surprised when I think Elizabeth Olsen is #1 when it comes to the upcoming actresses at the moment and she literally didn't have a single thing to do throughout the entire movie. The monster though >>> It really ****ed those two imposters up.

Spoiler: Godzilla being turned into a hero figure is wonderful And the fight scenes with the MUTO were epic, who knew Godzilla breathed blue fire (I'm sure it's not fire but w/e). Pretty lovely human story at the middle of it all, much better than the 97 film anyway, and I loved the stockier, badass Godzilla a lot.
I do wish Cranston and Binoche were used more but they were great in their brief time on screen, Ken Watanabe is always great too. Only thing I'd have liked a bit more is that it wasn't always so foggy and smokey, but hey, that's San Francisco for you.
On par with Pacific Rim really, both hugely entertaining, awe-inspiring movies.
Favourite scene was probably the sky-dive into the middle of the ruined city, loved the score and the visual effects of that.

I loved the director's movie Monsters, so I had high expectations for this, and the cast was great too, however I just didn't really enjoy it as much as I thought I would, Juliette Binoche dying so early just annoyed me. Anyway there were a couple of spectacular scenes, so it was worth watching.
Will try to see the next one before the deadlline, I don't wanna end up getting film club detention.

I'll do the thing for who picks the next movie in a sec
