Both should pay for themselves imo. Unless one of them arranged the date as a treat for the other person, in which case they'd probably pay.
I don't think it should ever be a gender thing, though. When I hear people debating how a guy should always pay etc, it makes me glad to be gay and avoiding double standards like that.
