I did wonder why Alicia was so defensive about being called a bad mum. So I googled her and it makes for some interesting insights.
Her eldest daughter, by the sound of it, has had a hellish life, whose schooling was often interrupted by Alicia's needs.
But the worst, in my view, was that when her youngest child was 2. Alicia locked them both in a room, provided food and water for her daughter, because she says she didn't know how long it would be before they were found, and took pills and booze.
Now I feel sorry for anyone who feels so low that they contemplate suicide, BUT WHAT ABOUT THE CHILD. If Alicia had died and the child had lived she would have been scarred for life, but the chances were good that the child would have died too. How bloody selfish can she be. If she was determined to top herself, fair enough, but make sure the child was safe first.
