I can see why it would effect confidence but dyslexia does not effect somebodies general intelligence, Alicia is dim because she is dim, dyslexia is not the reason. It's more insulting to say dyslexic people have an excuse to be below average intelligence, I know alot of people with it who are sharper than me.

Absolutely. But that presumes she had support to access education if and when her dyslexia created obstacles? It's far more supported now as an educational need as it would have been when she was at school?
