I agree with your assessment of Perez and his relationship with Hopkins. WhatI find harder to understand is the public demonization of him. I am noy a fan but can't see that he has done anything to warrant the hate, he's annoying but he isn't a bully like James Jordan. He isn't kicking any puppies.(Hopkins is the puppy kicker in the house). The Perez hate seems a little OTT.

TBH any hate is ott, for me the moment Perez seemingly at random attacked Katie in the grave task was the moment I was fixed in my dislike for him, everything else just reinforced that feeling. It just seemed so vicious, spiteful and random.
