I really like BB8. Very underrated series, IMO.
The production that year killed it though. They tried to replicate the success of BB7, with so many bad and pointless twists (£100K giveaway, and Halfway House, come to mind), but it made it much worse.
Very similar to BB15, but less nomination based and nasty.
There were a few great twists though, like Fake Week / Charley's fake eviction.
The all female launch twist was terrible to say the least, and them dropping man after man every week jammed the knife in more.
Despite, some bad housemates, there were also some really great ones, who should've lasted longer (Charley, Emily, Shabnam, and Nicky).
BB8 gets rubbish after Charley is evicted. Not only because she was a great character, but they fill the house with 5 ghastly pointless new housemates, who pretty much take over afterwards.
People usually say BB5-BB7 is the golden era of the show. Yes, in terms of ratings. But BB8 did well anyway, with 3.9M, despite being 0.8M off from the 2006 series.
But, IMO BB5-BB9 are in my eyes the greater years, as every one of those series were great, and the media still cared about it then too.
It was in fact BB10 onwards, when the show began to decline.
Didn't help BB8 being a few months after CBB5 though, as there was still criticism from the celebrity series before.
I wonder how well BB8 would've done in terms of ratings, had Shilpagate not happened a few months earlier.
