If you have a set system people will learn to follow the rules, If someones had a few infractions recently and they're not entirely sure how many points they are away from a ban, sometimes you can just get wound up enough and snap at members, leading to a higher point infraction and thus to a ban, which they wouldn't necessarily have got if they'd have known how many points they were going to get

(am i making sense i honestly just feel like I'm rambling SEE THIS IS WHAT I MEANT IN THE LOUNGE LAST NIGHT WHEN I SAID I WAS ARTICULATE ENOUGH TO PUT MY POINT ACROSS)
Hmm I don't know if I'm understanding you right but ban times do increase, they increase as the points increase if you get what I mean?

People knew how much they could push it when they knew how much points they had and then stopped to save themselves from a ban.

There is no way at all we can have a set amount of points for every single rule break, that would definitely be unfair as serial rule breakers would be getting the same punishments as people that barely break the rules.
