For some people they can't learn from there mistakes those people are dyslexic and they will take offense at this thread and being told they can't spell. They know they can't spell and although they try not to misspell words they continue to do.
Around 10% of the population have some form of dyslexia and that means that 10% of the broad will suffer from this condition. So you could find as many as 10% of posts have spelling mistakes in them.
It's okay to say to those people use a spell checker but you are then disadvantaging them by reducing the speed at which they can post. Subjects sometimes move so fast that by the time the person as transfered a from word the point they were making has been missed or posted by someone else. Another problem they have is that because a dyslexic reads by word shape and word shape alone a spell checker just makes things worse and they get the wrong word altogether.
Writing the word down over and over again doesn't work for these people either. One of the other problems dyslexics have is that they have poor short term memories and problems with letter and number sequences. It simply doesn't work for them to learn spelling in this way.
Now you might ask yourself why I know all this. That is because I am dyslexic and I find threads like this offensive.
If you can't make out my spelling or meaning of my post just don't reply. But correct my spelling and I will be deeply insulted. I had enough red pen on my school work to last me a lifetime. And then to come here and be told how to spell is the last think I want in my life.
