I find the colour scheme very restful on the eye, but the pink scrolling writing doesn't really stand out very well on it, and the green coloured writing is quite a dull colour too.
Obviously you don't want to use too garish colours which would be harmful to the eyeballs!
but I wonder whether slightly brighter colours for the text might be more effective on the existing background.
As for an alternative colour scheme - dark blue on light blue, or vice versa, is supposed to be one of the best combinations.
