I remember on BOTS they showed the results of the housemates IQ tests, and he was quiet high up, actually.

I was surprised Ash was the highest, but I wouldn't really call him stupid. But then again, I'd take these with a pinch of salt, as you've seen what type of questions they ask.
I'm pretty sure "What came first, the chicken or the egg?" is an accurate measure of intellect.
