Maybe but I used to be really into rap music but I never ever used 'that' word.

Me too, I guess it just comes down to personal opinions on "that" word.. to me it's a very offensive term and has cruel meanings behind it.

that's just my point though, you both listen or listened to rap, so did you stop listening to it because of THAT word....probably not. I grew up listening to NWA, Dr Dre, Snoop Dogg, and the like.......Rap has gone pretty crap with 50cent basically boring the sh*t out of me.
Emily seems to be one of those people that says, well if they can say it why can't I, and I respect her for that.....
Eminem is white, says that word in his songs......yet, as he's a rapper and has Dr Dre as a friend it's ok......
that's all I've been saying all this time, it's not that I think Emily should have said it, but, as she said it in a friend to friend way, it shouldn't be looked upon as though she's racist because of it.....and on Charley saying "You only say a word like that when you are used to saying it" that is not entirely true, you may have heard a word a lot of times, and one day say it out loud, Emily did state that her friends say it all the time.....so I don't see that as much of a problem.
of course all this probably makes me sound like I dismiss the word's origin which is not the case at all, but everyone must agree that the meaning of the word, (though very horrible) has changed meaning over the years, the line between good uses and bad uses for the word is way too blurred either it's a bad word and no one should say it or it's a good word and everyone should be allowed to say it........of course that will never happen, and we will always have this debate.
so until Rappers, Actors and Comedians stop using the word, it's fair game in my book.
though I'll never say the word, I just don't like to use those kinds of words, though I must admit I love Films, old Rap and Comedians like Chris Rock and Eddie Murphy....and they all contain the word....which doesn't offend me.....of course I'm white.....but I can still be offended by the term.....when it is said with intent to harm.
as a question to everybody. (though this debate has been over for sometime now) where do you stand on the word?
OK for Rappers Actors and Comedians to use but no one else
OK for everyone to use, as long as it's friendly between friends
or
No one should ever say it at all wether they are black or not.
