So Near, Yet So Far
Day 44, 23:00
Saturday 10 July

While on sentry duty, Dan and Ahmed have come close to the truth about the task and who will face eviction.

The pair were the first to take up their positions in the sentry hut and it looked like it was set to be a very, very long two hours.

Earlier this afternoon Dan tried to calm a very hot tempered Ahmed down during a row with Shell. The intervention resulted in Dan receiving a few choice words from the 44 year-old and the pair have hardly spoken since.

As they sat side by side in the cramped sentry box, the rain poured down. Reaching for conversation Dan brought up a subject sure to get them talking.... the weather.

But 'cold' and 'wet' exhausted that topic in a matter of seconds.

Once again Dan initiated the chat with speculation on what might be the fate of the Privates if they failed the Boot Camp task.

...and gets Ahmed thinking

"Jason and Michelle said something very, very bad is going to happen...the logical assumption is that [if we fail]...the Privates will be up for eviction," Dan suggested, getting close to the truth but just missing the mark.

In fact, if the Privates fail the task, they will avoid being put up for eviction and the Sergeants will face the public vote.

Meanwhile, in the kitchen, Shell was being as positive as ever in her predictions on the outcome of the task. "We're gonna pass this task and have a brilliant, brilliant reward."

Oh dear.
