As a big mystery fan, my pet peeve is when it's revealed to be someone you don't even know. The whole mystery aspect becomes pointless if it was never a character you'd never met anyway.
An episode of Bones pulled that once and I was livid. 45 minutes of my life I'll never get back.
It was just that once though, Bones is still one of my favourites.
