S4C is the welsh version of C4. I think it stands for Sianel 4 Cymru, which in english is Channel 4 Wales. We have C4 programmes on it, but most of the programmes are welsh ones.
Yeah, there are two of them, one terrestrial and one digital. The terrestrial, which started the same time as C4 as a replacement for Wales, meaning it shows prime time Welsh programmes with most C4 shows showing later in the evening to substatute HTV Cymru that would also show Welsh programmes, but often late at night. This is why C4 isn't available on terrestrial in most of Wales.
The digital one, only broadcasts Welsh programmes as C4 is available to Wales on it anyway. It's only been around for a few years ready for the switch over. That's the one that'll be used in the future with no C4 shows when the switch over happens. The other one will close as it will no longer be needed. In Wales it's on number 4, in the rest of the Uk it's further down.
That's what S4C is, hope I've answered your question

imatt, I made this one cos yours didn't have S4C~ on it
