As that's when the show began to decline, after the ugly CBB5. And ratings slowly dropped and dropped, and media interest fluctuated, eventually resulting in the axing of the show.

BB1-BB4, CBB1-2 (2000-2003) - Classic Era
BB5-BB7, CBB3-4 (2004-2006) - Golden Era
BB8-BB11, CBB5-7 (2007-2010) - Decline Era

BB12-Present (2011-Present) - Channel 5 Era

In my eyes, there are two sub-eras of the Channel 5 Era.

BB12-BB13, CBB8-10 (2011-2012) - Brian Dowling Era
When the show was still new to Channel 5. Was very tacky, and TOWIE like. With OTT editing, glitz and glam feel. However, the series were more basic, with less twists and manipulation.

BB14-BB16, CBB12-15 (2013-Present) - Emma Willis Era
The rise of CBB, decreased in quality of BB. New host. Less tacky and TOWIE feel, than 2011/2012. Particularly since CBB15.
However, the series have become more manipulated, forced, with contrived drama, and constant twists.
Thank you for telling me

Notice how its usually a new era every 3 years?

The Emma Willis era (2013 - Present) was also the start of themed series' like secrets and Lies, Power trip and Time bomb.

So Ironic how Jade was the first housemate to become really famous from BB and she was also the one who ruined big brother!
