Yeah I agree, Nikki isn't given him false hope because he already thinks it he didn't need anyone to tell him because he already knows. If Time Warp never happened he would have been shocked at the boos and look like a fool anway. To describe Nikki as nasty is silly. She isn't innocent but she sure isn't nasty.
