To me it says that he's being real, rather than thinking "I'm going to act cool so I don't get evicted" or "I'm going to keep the peace". It also says to me that he doesn't care what others think, which I think is an admirable quality in a housemate considering it's usually their top priority, how they're being perceived etc.

I think the whole idea of it was just to cause a bit of drama really and maybe to make it more interesting for the viewers instead of having basic diary room nominations.
