I think the most telling part of that performance was the way she made herself laugh when she was pretending to cry. It showed that she was faking it, for whatever reason. I think that reason was to try and break bonds with Ziggy and Gerry.

The unnerving part about it to me was the way she spoke to Gerry, she was quite nasty and personal to him, simply because he said she needed to put more effort in, after not swimming many lengths. For such a calculating and studious girl, it begs the question why she chose such powerful words with which to condemn her supposed friend.
