BB8 wasn't bad because of CBB5. I mean yes, CBB5 did tarnish the brand. But, there was a lot of hype for BB8, when it started. Especially due to the success of BB7, the summer before.

It's the awful production that ruined BB8. I like BB8 as a series, but it's awful in the last few weeks, particularly when Charley is evicted. BB8 had so many pointless twists to try to replicate the success of BB7, that it just killed any potential the series had, which was high to begin with. The all-female launch and dropping men in one by one was a massive no-no.

I did think the BB8 ratings were affected by CBB5. But I think also the quality of the series in comparison to the other 3 series before also had something to do with the decline in ratings.

Had BB8 been a better series I don't see why it couldn't have averaged around 4.2m, instead of 3.8m.

Frankly it was never going to get over 4.6m or the same ratings as the golden era series, because like I said CBB5 did put a lot of people from watching. But this series still had the hype that BB5-BB7 all had. It was just a disappointment the way things were executed that it lowered the ratings even further, when it could've averaged over 4m.
