I'm in the minority who really loved the Australian Outback and see it as quite historic/iconic in Survivor terms.
Pretty sure it was the first season where everyone was talking about it and watching it in America, as it was benefiting from the hype of the first season:

It set down a lot of things that shaped the future of the franchise (e.g. Jerri being the first major villain, Colby the first "housewives fave", even people naming their babies after him

, Colby's "million dollar mistake", Mike being the first med-evac, Alicia vs Kimmi being the first major fight on Survivor, Tina being the first underrated/overlooked winner etc)
