It's not scripted, I think the smirks and awkward conversations etc are just a result of them being self aware and sometimes fake because the hm's are fake, rather than bb telling them what to say. As for the hot water bottle, I think nikki brought it in, isn't the bedroom supposed to be cold? Even if not my mum sleeps with one in the middle of summer too lol so maybe nicks just weird like her
