Default This smart lock can be unbolted with a swipe of your Apple Watch

Here's one of the better uses for the Apple Watch that we've seen - the device can now unlock doors.

Obviously this doesn't work with any old door, but ones equipped with an August Smart Lock, now that the security accessories have added support for the wearable.

Users can unbolt the hi-tech locks "with just a swipe and a tap" of their Apple Watch, while a dedicated app keeps track of who has passed through the door.

The August app also delivers notifications to your wrist whenever somebody locks or unlocks the door.

The locks already worked with iOS and Android smartphones, but there is no word on whether they are gaining support for Android Wear watches.

The August Smart Lock is available online for $250, but is only compatible with Single-Cylinder deadbolts doors most commonly found in North America
