I recently had to analyse some text from 1500's and the spellings were completely different. There were runic symbols (no such letter as 's' mid-word, it was a symbol that looked like an 'f'), spellings changed throughout the text, everything was spelled phonetically, and the great vowel shift was only just occurring and so double, and sometimes triple vowels mid-word was rife.
(Actually, allow me this opportunity to ward off anyone planning on doing English Language for A2 levels - it's hell ).

In regards to A2 levels of English, as long as the important exam results are a pass at the end of it all, it will be worth it
