Unfortunately I can’t help you from a first-hand point of view, as I’ve never suffered from panic attacks myself. However, I think that’s because I can deal with stress quite well – I get stressed a lot on a daily basis, but you’ve just got to keep focused and not get too caught up in what it is that’s stressing you out. If you do actually have a panic attack, then obviously the best advice would be to consider what’s been given – e.g. the paper bag, breathing deeply and keeping a clear head.
Often what helps me though, generally speaking, is to just focus on the present and future entirely – it keeps me going a lot of the time. A positive attitude towards whatever you do can lift an enormous weight off your chest as well; you’d be surprised. Above all though, talking to someone and getting all of your worries out in the open makes things suddenly seem a lot easier.
